Like Dave Sylvaria. Dave grew up on the water, right next to the Blount shipyard. So it was no surprise when he started as a Blount deckhand at age 18. As the years went by, Dave sailed, well, everywhere Blount ships go. He made good friends in ports around the world. Shared adventures with thousands of passengers. And worked on every ship in the fleet, eventually working his way up to Fleet Captain. Today, he manages the staff you’ll meet on every cruise, including the deckhands. Not bad, for the kid next door.

Dana Filippini’s just as busy. As a cruise director, she wears the hat of hotel manager, scheduling master, tour organizer, and general problem solver on many of our cruises. You’ll find her working tirelessly behind the scenes to make your cruise run smoothly. But she’s also a naturalist at heart, which could be why you’ll occasionally catch her leaning over the railing to catch a glimpse of dolphins in the intercoastal waterway, whales in the Canadian Maritimes, or even golden eagles — her rarest sighting yet.
