Day 1 - Warren, RI/Cuttyhunk, MA
Welcome to your adventure through
the whaling and maritime history of classic New England. Admire Rhode Island’s rugged coastline as you cruise from Warren, RI,
through Narragansett Bay, recently named one of National Geographic’s Best Adventure
Destinations. Sail the Sakonnet River en route to Cuttyhunk, MA, the last in the remote chain of Elizabeth Islands off Cape Cod. Day 2 - Nantucket, MA
Posh and picturesque Nantucket Island, an exclusive summer retreat, welcomes you. This morning learn the island’s history on an optional guided tour. After lunch, an optional Historic Homes walking tour introduces three examples of classic Nantucket architecture, including Colonial Revival, Greek Revival, and a creatively-renovated former barn from the island’s period as a thriving art colony. Later, you may wish to take a trip through maritime history at the Nantucket Whaling Museum, visit the boutiques along Main Street, or stroll through town to admire historic clapboard homes complete with widow’s walks.

Day 3 - Martha's Vineyard, MA
Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket’s laidback cousin, welcomes you with her charming gingerbread architecture and miles of pristine beaches. You can browse the shops and galleries in Vineyard Haven or bike ride to scenic Oak Bluffs. A local expert educates and entertains on an optional tour of the island, complete with a visit to the dramatic, rust-colored cliffs of Gay

Day 4 - New Bedford, MA
Visit the seaside city of New Bedford, MA, once one of the world’s premier whaling ports. Herman Melville, author of Moby-Dick, worked here as a whaler in the 19th century. Take an optional excursion to learn about the rich history at the New Bedford Whaling National Historic Park and Whaling museum. This evening, an onboard entertainer introduces you to “A Fisherman’s Life.”

Day 5 - Block Island, RI
Block Island, a quaint island retreat,
is as gorgeous as it is unpretentious. Spend the day exploring its magnificent beaches, historic lighthouses, and charming small shops. A lifetime resident and local expert entertains and educates on an optional tour of the island. Visit breathtaking Mohegan Bluffs, where green hills plunge dramatically to the unspoiled Atlantic beaches below, and behold the landmark Block Island Southeast Lighthouse. Later, arrive in beautiful Newport, RI, known for yachting, world-class dining and shopping, and its spectacular mansions.
